Our History

My name is Cassi White. I have been a Cancer Care nurse at Seattle Children’s Hospital for the last four years. About two years ago I created the concept for a song about a child navigating the world of cancer treatment. I was re-inspired a year ago and reached out to one of my friends, Seattle musician and Melodic Caring Project founder, Levi Ware, who wrote the chorus and melody for the song. The verse lyrics were developed from my original concept and through collaboration with well-known local hip-hop artist M-Deuce (Miciah Massey) and with the help of amazing local music producer Bubba Jones, we have now completed our song: “The War for the Cure”. We’ve had musical contributions from internationally-acclaimed Seattle-area artists.

I grew up in the music industry. My father, Alan White, is the drummer for Yes, and has worked with many well-known music artists including John Lennon and George Harrison. I began playing drums a year ago and had the great opportunity to play drums with my father on this track. I hope this song will reach and touch the lives of many people as well as raise substantial contributions for the war for the cure.

Working in the Cancer Care unit and clinic over the years, I have had the opportunity to meet many of the wonderful children who receive treatment at Seattle Children’s Hospital. The power of this song is meant to change lives and inspire others. Everyone is somehow, someway, connected to this devastating disease and this song brings forth the true world that exists in the hospital for these kids. The purpose is to open eyes, ignore silence, and bring forward a place of understanding that all people can reflect on. It would also be a great bonus to raise additional funding for these organizations, Strong Against Cancer and Melodic Caring Project, who continue to support these kids every day in their battle against cancer.

The song and video will be debuted at the 1st annual Strong Against Cancer benefit on Sept. 30th in Seattle, Washington, along with the first ever live performance of the song. All proceeds from the song, music video and merchandise sales will benefit Strong Against Cancer and Melodic Caring Project. The Melodic Caring Project (MCP) is a registered 501(c)3 Not-For-Profit organization which streams live concerts over the internet to kids in their hospital rooms.

I couldn’t have put this project together without the help and talent contributions from all the truly inspiring artists I have had the pleasure of working with. Everyone involved has donated their time to the project in the hopes of broadening awareness and support as well as raise money for the pediatric population that we serve at Seattle Children’s and nationwide. I appreciate them all very much.

Thanks for your time and I look forward with excitement as we move forward towards raising money
